Jennie Garth’s husband, Dave Abrams, is excited about becoming an empty nester, but the actress isn’t so sure.
The 90210 alum, who shares daughters Luca Bella, 27, Lola Ray, 21, and Fiona Eve, 17, with ex Peter Facinelli, is preparing for her youngest daughter Fiona to leave for college next fall. Although she has a year to get ready, and her middle daughter has just moved back in, the 52-year-old mom says she’s not sure she’s ready to be without her girls.
“I walk by her room, and every time I give myself a little pause and think, ‘Oh, she’s almost 18,'” Garth says of her youngest. “When I look at her, I struggle to see the young woman that she is because, to me, she’s my baby. I’ll always treat her like my baby, I guess. And then I have to readjust and remind myself to treat her according to her age.”
While Garth is still coming to terms with what will be her new reality, she says her husband Abrams is looking forward to having just the two of them at home.
“Oh my god, my husband’s so excited,” she says. “Not that he doesn’t love the girls. He loves the girls like they’re his own, but we have two still living at home. The 21-year-old has moved back in with us now, which I love. I want them all to live with me forever.”
“I think it’ll be a challenge to become an empty nester just because I don’t think they’re ever going to leave.”
Garth’s oldest daughter, Luca, lives across the country, which the actress admits is the “hardest part” of watching her girls grow up.
“My 27-year-old is living in New York. That’s the hardest part about having an older child,” Garth says. “But I’m really trying to get her to move back to California. I think it’s going to happen.”
This past June, Garth shared a sweet message for her daughter Luca on Instagram as she celebrated her 27th birthday.
“When your baby girl turns 27! 🎁♥️🌹💃🏼 I LOVE you my angel @lucabellabella 😇,” Garth wrote in the post’s caption.
The carousel included a selfie of Garth and Luca and a posed photo of the birthday girl sitting outside at a restaurant. The two dressed up for the occasion, with the What I Like About You star wearing a strappy white dress while her daughter rocked a yellow minidress.
The actress continued to celebrate her daughter on her Instagram Stories, sharing another photo of herself and her daughter with the caption, “Love of my life.” She added the song “Invisible String” by Taylor Swift to the special post.
