Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion took a break from her Hot Girl Summer tour on Tuesday to campaign for Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris.

The Grammy-winning rapper, dressed in royal blue pants, a matching blazer, and a tie over a cropped white collared shirt, took the stage as the opening act during the vice president’s rally in Atlanta, which was livestreamed on social media.

“I want to start off by saying: Hotties for Harris,” Megan announced before launching into a compilation of her songs, including clean versions of “Girls in the Hood,” “Mamushi,” “Body,” and “Savage.”

Between tracks, the 29-year-old rapper urged supporters to elect Harris as the country’s first female president.

“We’re about to make history with the first female president, the first Black female president,” she told the crowd.

Before performing “Body,” she added, “Now I know my ladies in the crowd love their body, and if you want to keep loving your body, you know who to vote for.”

On Monday, Megan teased her appearance by sharing a flyer on her Instagram featuring a photo of herself with the words “Kamala” and “Megan Thee Stallion.”

USA TODAY has reached out to Megan’s representatives for comment.

After Megan’s set, Migos rapper Quavo took to the stage to endorse Harris and discuss his mission to resolve the gun violence issue in the U.S.

“One thing I learned about working with Vice President Harris is she always stands on business,” he said. “From inviting me to the White House last year to discuss these solutions to passing the biggest gun-safety laws to date, it’s only right that the birthplace of the culture is also the place to launch the first African American woman to run for president.”

Megan has not been particularly active in politics, aside from dubbing former first lady Michelle Obama “Thee First Lady” and urging fans to vote. However, she has been outspoken about protecting Black women, especially during Tory Lanez’s trial after he shot her. Lanez was later convicted.

During an acceptance speech for the Catalyst for Change Award at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York’s Spring Into Action gala in April, Megan advocated for creating communities where women can receive sexual and reproductive health care with love, respect, and compassion.

She’s also the founder of the nonprofit Pete & Thomas Foundation, which aims to uplift women, children, senior citizens, and underserved communities in Houston, Texas, and around the world, focusing on education, housing, and health.

The rapper is currently on her Hot Girl Summer Tour, her first international arena tour as a headliner. The tour stops in Atlanta on Friday, following her appearance at the Broccoli City Festival in Washington, D.C. over the weekend. It will wrap up in New York City on September 26.

Megan released her third studio album, “Megan,” on June 28. It was the first album released under her independent label, Hot Girl Productions, following a legal dispute with her former record label. The album features “Hiss,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year, and the TikTok-viral, bilingual track “Mamushi,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart.

Weeks before Megan’s tour launch, a former cameraman accused her of sexual harassment and weight-shaming comments in a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles. Alex Spiro, Megan’s lawyer, called the suit “an employment claim for money − with no sexual harassment claim filed and with salacious accusations to attempt to embarrass her.”

Does Taylor Swift support Kamala Harris? A look at her political history and new Easter eggs.

Harris has garnered widespread support since President Joe Biden called off his campaign for reelection. Biden’s 59-year-old vice president has secured more than half the support of Democratic delegates to be the nominee and remains the only prominent Democrat to announce her candidacy.

Last week, Harris’s campaign raised $100 million in donations within 48 hours of Biden’s withdrawal. Celebrities across the entertainment industry have shown their support, including George Clooney and Jamie Lee Curtis, as well as “White Dudes for Harris” supporters Jeff Bridges, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Mark Hamill.
