Selena Gomez is done with the speculation about her appearance.
On Saturday, the “Only Murders in the Building” star stumbled upon a TikTok video from April 2023, where a plastic surgeon commented on the actress’ changing looks over the years, specifically comparing her appearance from a few years ago to the 2023 Golden Globes.
“I literally have no idea what she has gotten done. I think she’s been through so much in her life, especially medically related, so I don’t think it’s fair to speculate whether or not she’s gotten cosmetic things done,” commented Boca Raton physician assistant Marissa, known as Marissa the PA on TikTok. “I don’t know what to attribute any of these changes to.”
Despite defending Gomez, Marissa ironically fueled the scrutiny. “At the end of the day, let’s just leave her be. I feel like she’s been through enough in her life, and she’s beautiful regardless,” she concluded in the video.
However, Gomez was not pleased with the discussion.
“Honestly I hate this. I was on steroids because of a flare-up(s). I have Botox. That’s it. Leave me alone,” Gomez responded.
Marissa the PA issued an apology to Gomez on Sunday. “I adore you. I really do mean the best, so I apologize if this rubbed you the wrong way in any way whatsoever.”
She added, “You don’t owe it to anyone to explain why you don’t look the same as you did when you were a teenager or in your twenties.”
The “Calm Down” singer replied, “I love you. Not about you.”
“I just get sad sometimes,” Gomez added.
In response to the online controversy, the singer and actress posted a carousel of selfies on Instagram from various occasions.
During a 2019 appearance on the “Giving Back Generation” podcast with Raquelle Stevens, Selena Gomez opened up about how people treated her amid her health struggles.
“I have lupus and deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure, so I face a lot of health challenges. That’s when I really started noticing more of the body image stuff,” she shared. “It was then that I began to notice when people started attacking me for that.”
